| Week of 02/21/2019 - Featured Blog Post Feeling Good About Myself "If I just get down below 200 pounds, I'll feel good about myself." "If I just lose 25 pounds, I'll feel good about myself." "If I just fit into this size 10 dress, I'll feel good about myself." I get it. Really, I do - it's so easy to think these things, to think that we have to change our bodies in order to love them. But it's just not true. We have to love ourselves NOW, not later. It's so much easier to take care of something you treasure than something you hate or barely tolerate. "If I lose 25 pounds, I will get faster pulling myself up these hills I love to bike." "If I get below 200 pounds, my risks for heart disease decrease." "If I get into a size 10..." - ok, I've got nothing for this one. Getting into a certain number size has never worked for me, given the variation in sizing between brands and even clothes within the same brand. It's entirely possible to love the body you're in, and still want to tweak it, help it become even better at doing what it was designed to do - carry that shining thing that is YOU through this life. It's like caring for a child - you can absolutely love a child exactly the way s/he is right at this very moment, and still know massive change is both possible and necessary for that child to grow into an adult, through discipline, support, and encouragement.
