Did Someone Move The Finish Line?
SHORTSTORY2

Did someone move the finish line? I wanted to ask that when I got out the scale this morning and realized I have gained 13 pounds since July! It's not that I gave up and went on an eating binge. I had thyroid problems again and depression decided to visit at the same time. Talk about a bad combination!

I'm actually starting to feel better as of yesterday. I know it will take a while still for all to be back to normal, but I'm starting today getting back to doing what I know I need to in order to be a success. Starting over again is not something I wanted to do, but have no option. Just going to take this new journey slowly and do my best.

When I was really down and feeling my worst, I toyed with the idea of abandoning SparkPeople. I just had no interest in anything at the time, but then remembered all the wonderful people I have met on here, my teammates and friends and just couldn't leave. This is the best group I have ever been a part of and I think of all of you as my extended family. I want to be a part of a success story and hopefully be an encouragement to others who are dealing with health issues and depression. Never feel alone. There is always someone to reach out to on here. That includes me!

I did check the Start/Finish Line and it's still in the same place. If you are starting over I'll be right there beside you ready to start my journey. Don't be in a major rush. Go slowly with me and set some doable goals so you don't get discouraged. That scale is going to disappoint us at times, but together we can make it to the Finish Line! See you out there!

No foreign foods in school lunches without USDA waiver

By Dan Flynn

Like an "oldie but goodie" in the "Back to the Future" movies, the "Buy American" provision in the National School Lunch Act is again being squeezed for political benefits. Rep. John Garamendi, D-CA, wants to amend current law to require schools to obtain "waivers" before purchasing imported foods for lunch programs. His waiver bill was... Continue Reading
