Ah, sleep: the one thing literally everyone could use more of. I've always been a great sleeper. But 2021 challenged my sleep in a big way. Between juggling work, planning a wedding, and just trying to exist in this wild world, I found myself struggling to fall — and stay — asleep for the first time in my life. Luckily, I had the opportunity to test a slew of sleep-related products for Healthline during this challenging time — everything from pillows and mattresses to sleep trackers and white noise machines. And it's the below picks that have seriously improved my sleep routine. (We include products we think are useful for our readers. If you buy through links on this page, we may earn a small commission. Here's our process.) Since I've graduated from sleeping without my phone in my room — I know! I'm proud of myself, too — I've started using this Hatch Restore light. It's a sound machine and sunrise lamp all in one, and it makes my wind-down and get-up process much more enjoyable. Another improvement? Upgrading my jammies. The mattress company Avocado just launched a sleepwear brand called Haas, and they're the softest, stretchiest, snuggliest pj's I've ever owned. And they're made with ethically and sustainably sourced materials. Win-win! When it comes to pillows, we're a house divided. My fiancé prefers the fluffy lightness of the Casper Original Pillow, and I prefer the squishy support of the Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow. While we're on the topic, this Deep Sleep Pillow Spray from This Works has cheaply and easily elevated my bedtime routine, calming my thoughts before sleep. For naps, I'm into this YNM Cooling Weighted Blanket. Why it's my pick: It's considerably more affordable than other weighted blankets. It's made with bamboo viscose, which makes it silky and cool to the touch. If you're someone who typically feels smothered by the very idea of a weighted blanket, you might just feel differently with this one. Before I go, I'll share my sleep goal for 2022: to level up our bed to a king-size Saatva Classic Mattress. I learned all about Saatva with our Healthline sleep team this year and, while it's definitely on the expensive side, the quality and plush-yet-firm Euro top really sold me. Check it out.
