| | Week of 03/16/2017 - Featured Board Post The Dance of the Scale I've had a certain weight marker on the scale that's held me at a plateau off and on for a long time (we're not talking months)! Today, I broke it and beat the scale at its own dance. I give partial credit to SparkPeople's 21-Day Sugar Challenge. Sugar has always been my weakness. I'm not a believer in deprivation. If I can't EVER have something, it makes me want it more, especially sugar. I went through this challenge four times. It helped me land with a plan that works for me. Sugar is everywhere and now I can spot it more easily. My sugar is very limited these days. I still allow myself sweet treats, but it's for special things - something I can't go to the grocery store or corner Quik-Trip and buy. I also steer clear of the many candy jars at work. I also give myself big credit because I've been exercising regularly and eating out less/cooking at home more. Both help. In the end, it's MY SUCCESS that I engineered ... I now liken my willpower to a brain muscle that's like any other muscle. The more you work it, the more you strengthen it. On the other hand, if you overuse any muscle, including the willpower muscle, it can fail you. So when I have those human moments, I just move on ... Woo Hoo!!
