It's about 3 p.m. on a Monday and I've been in a brain battle with myself all day. I have my gym bag packed, my hair is already in a ponytail and I've looked through a few workouts for inspiration, and yet, I don't think I can make myself exercise today. I spent most of the weekend unpacking in my new place and have been feeling under the weather for a few days in a row now. I know a workout will make me feel better, but for the life of me, I cannot muster the motivation to actually get it done. Now that it's 3 p.m., though, I realized it's okay. Skipping my workout today doesn't mean I'm going to gain weight or lose my motivation for life. It doesn't mean I'm giving up or failing. It doesn't mean I'm less than. What it does mean is that I've had a busy weekend and my body is trying to get me to slow down. It does mean that I can come back tomorrow and get a sweat session in without losing momentum. It's a good lesson for this perfectionist and I hope if your body is sending similar signals you have the strength to listen and still be proud of yourself and still be motivated to take on tommorrow (or the next day) with gusto!
