Hi Everyone
I just returned from a quick vacation. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We're about 75-100 miles away from the horrific wildfires in the North Bay, but the air pollution was so bad near us that our schools closed Thursday and Friday. So we drove out of the area to cleaner air especially after I recently wrote about more research into the dangers of air pollution.
This was a minor inconvenience for us compared to what everyone up north is living through now. One of my wife's best friends had to evacuate from Santa Rosa. Then, when they considered going back, there was another fire headed right towards them and another evacuation for their neighborhood. So far they (and their house) are safe. It's hard to believe about 3,000 homes have burned in Santa Rosa alone. Santa Rosa isn't a bunch of homes in the woods - it's a real city with a population of 175,000 people. There is a lot of pride there for the city. My wife tells me that many families have lived in the area for generations.
With all of the natural and man-made disasters recently (hurricanes, Las Vegas, wildfires, politics, and more), I thought it would be good to do a quick gratitude check.
Here's a good quote I found:
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.
