Hey there, Whey concentrate or isolate? And the honest answer is the abominable "it depends." Despite minor differences in absorption rates, neither is more effective for gaining muscle, especially "lean muscle" (as if you can somehow gain "fatty muscle"). Despite its superior macronutritional profile, whey isolate isn't more effective for losing fat (unless you're eating way too much protein powder). And despite the additional processing to remove lactose and fat, whey isolate isn't less bioavailable or nutritious. That said, as whey concentrate is the least expensive form of whey protein, it's a category rife with corner-cutting. This is why many whey concentrates mix, taste, and digest like stale concrete. Bargains aren't always good buys; you pay bananas, you get monkeys; yadda yadda. With my whey concentrate, however, you're getting Avonlac 282® whey protein concentrate, which is a specialty protein made with milk from cows never treated with rBST (a synthetic hormone used to boost milk production) and specifically processed to taste pleasant and dissolve quickly and easily in liquids. My whey concentrate also contains 20 grams of protein and 9 grams of essential amino acids per serving. And it's naturally sweetened and flavored with no artificial dyes, fillers, or other unnecessary junk.
| | But I still haven't answered the question: Should you buy a basic concentrate or bougie isolate? - Lactose doesn't bother your stomach
- Whey protein doesn't bother your stomach
- You like a "heavier" mouthfeel
- You don't mind some extra calories from carbs and fat
- You don't want to spend more for isolate
- Lactose bothers your stomach
- Whey protein bothers your stomach
- You like a "lighter" mouthfeel
- You want to maximize protein and minimize calories per scoop
- You don't mind spending more for isolate
So, there it is.
If a premium whey concentrate stirs your shaker, get mine here:

P.S. I'm starting with two flavors. The two flavors, actually: chocolate and vanilla. Because I'm leveraging synergies to disrupt the paradigm. Or something. I don't know. Buy my protein before fake time runs out. | | | | |
