| | Today's tip: Use all of your senses. | Mindlessly eating can lead to unhealthy eating habits. For example, rushing through meals can cause you to overeat since it takes time for your brain to register that you're full. Being disconnected from your food may also take away from the joy of eating something delicious! | An essential part of mindfulness is slowing down and being present in the moment. This exercise is meant to turn your next meal into an experience. | Grab something to eat, ideally a small snack like berries or dark chocolate chips. Whatever you choose, we want you to take your time and focus on using all of your senses — touch, sight, taste, hearing, and smell — to enjoy every bite. | • | Sit with your food for a minute. What do you see? What's the texture like? | | • | Bring it up to your nose. How does it smell? Is it strong or subtle? | | • | Put it close to your ears and move it between your fingers. Do you hear anything? | | • | Place the food on your tongue. Do you enjoy the taste? Does the flavor or texture change over time? | | Try your best to chew thoroughly and savor the flavor. You might be surprised how much longer it takes to eat — and how much more satisfying the experience becomes! | Enjoy, The Healthline Team | | | | | | Until next time, | | Take care of yourself, and we'll see you again soon! | | | | View in browser Did a friend send you this email?
