Let's ask the dietitian
Q: Is it bad to lie down after eating?
A: While it's not necessarily bad or wrong to lie down after eating, for some people, it can cause unwanted symptoms of indigestion. For example, bloating, abdominal pain, and queasiness.

Some of these symptoms happen when stomach acid moves into your esophagus, and sometimes even into your mouth, after eating. If these symptoms sound familiar, try staying upright for 30–60 minutes after eating.

It may also help to know that large and/or acidic meals can trigger acid reflux symptoms. So if you're not lying down after eating and you're still noticing these symptoms, limiting these dietary triggers may also help:
  • spicy foods
  • fatty foods
  • acidic foods
  • alcohol
If this happens chronically or you aren't able to find relief, it may be time to see your primary care doctor.

YUESHENGHAO Adult Portion Plates
I'm self-aware enough to know that I'm really bad at knowing what a "single serving" looks like. I bought these plates a few months ago to help me be more mindful of how much I actually consume. I like that there are only three sections because I usually have a grain (rice), vegetable, and protein for most meals. BTW, I don't limit myself to only eating what's within those portions for a single plate. I'll go back and add more if I still feel hungry, but at least these give me a very general sense of how much I'm eating. Don't worry about breaking them: I've dropped these many times and can attest that they're very durable!
