| | Week of 08/30/2018 - Featured Blog Post What Keeps You Motivated? Some folks recently have been blogging about their why's. I'm always impressed by those who are battling hard against genetic destiny, family tendencies toward one disease or another. One that most resonates with me is that of wanting to be ABLE to do the things I might need to do, whenever they unexpectedly pop up. I want to be ABLE to cart the 40 pound bags of water softener salt down the basement stairs, heft them up and empty them into the machine, etc. I want to be ABLE to fit in an airplane seat comfortably (since they keep shrinking the personal space on planes). Don't get me wrong, there are days when I am SOOOO unmotivated. BUT if I cave too often to a lack of motivation, I can dig myself into a hole deep enough to make it difficult or impossible to do those things. Consequently, every so often I have to do a reality check. The biggest motivator is wanting to FEEL GOOD. As it is the beginning of a fresh new month, probably a good time to peek at the motivators, dust them off, and prepare to move forward. Life is just plain easier when not hauling around extra pounds. Walking, lifting, getting up and down, moving in general is easier when I'm in shape. So motivated or not,I keep those appointments with the trainer. I always feel better when I do. Other things: * Clothes fitting better. * Keeping up with the kids, dogs, and cats in my life. * And physical fitness needs to be properly fueled. Eat like crap, feel like crap... truer with every passing year! Hope you're all out there living the best day you can manage (same as me) right where you are on the path. Because it is the only one we'll ever get... and we're worth taking care of!
