| Week of 01/18/2018 - Featured Blog Post Proud to Be a Walker I have never been much of a runner or even a jogger. Though my friends, coaches, and trainers insisted running was the best, and reading articles of runners breezing through the wind with glowing skin- I was never convinced. However, few months back, I ran on a treadmill for 5 min straight for the first time to see if I could do it, and I did. Yay! When I was finished, I high-fived myself, cried, and swore I would never put myself through that torture again for sake of joining, "The Runners Club." Didn't see that coming did you, lol. There had to be another way to achieve my goals and no amount of: "Give it time, do intervals, you'll build up to it," would convince me otherwise. I accepted I was not a runner, and kudos to those that are, but not everyone becomes one. I became more self-aware and accepting what works for me and finally listened to my body. I allowed myself to believe that walking was second rate to running, and if I was not running I was not serious about my health goals. I almost believed I was still a "beginner" because I was walking to a better me instead of running. My breakthrough came today when I walked over 12,000 steps in less than 3 hours. I felt stronger and loved how I could feel almost every muscle move as I marched on. I am a walker for life, my life. And, if slow and steady wins the race, than I would rather be the tortoise than the hare.
