The Why of Weight Loss
BEINGALTERATION

I am a firm believer that obesity is a reflection of a person's mindset and environment. I've struggled with depression and self-esteem issues the majority of my life which makes losing weight that much more difficult. I know that I was happiest when I was skinny, but I was also more outgoing, more involved in the community, had a better support group, and receiving treatment for my depression. Due to this, I am going to reflect on the mental struggle of weight loss during this journey. I hope to make these changes last the rest of my life and figuring out why weight loss is hard for me is a good first step.

Let's look at 10 pros of switching to a healthier lifestyle:

1. Feeling comfortable in my own body.
2. Being to shop at more stores in the mall.
3. Improving my health outcomes later in life.
4. Fulfilling a dream of backpacking and/or a marathon.
5. Traveling without worrying that the host country can't handle my size.
6. Improving my depression with physical activity.
7. Being able to eat in public without fear of being judged.
8. Better looking skin, hair, and nails.
9. Able to wear heirloom jewelry without getting it resized.
10. Confidence in living life and getting out in to the world.

Now, let's look at the cons of switching to healthy living:
1. . . .
2. . . .
3. Causing a flare-up of an old back injury?
4. Always having to overthink what I'm eating or doing?
5. Losing time during the day?

As you can see, I'm definitely reaching for cons of healthier living. I have my excuses (wrong clothes, no motivation, fear of failure) but I can't think of anything truly bad happening if I take my time. Yes, my back could start to hurt again but it would be due to me pushing myself too hard, too fast. I'll only overthink everything if I make unrealistic goals and the only time I'll lose during the day is watching one or two less episodes on Netflix. Instead of excuses, I should constantly think of all the ways my life can improve it I do decide to take this journey.

Wish me luck!
