It was recently National Detroit Style Pizza Day and in honor of it, we wanted to explore all this vibrant city has to offer for a slice. So we tapped our resident Michigander, footwear designer, and pizza foodie Brett Golliff to give us the full low-down.

Loui's in Hazel Park. It's perfect. The ambiance is insane but most importantly the pizza is impeccable. I am no scientist but whatever they are doing with their cast iron is the secret and it should never change.

My go-to during the week with the family is Crispelli's. Perfect elevated pizza that the entire family can enjoy. Another one that fits the same path is Tomatoes. Which was at one point nationally recognized as the best pizza in Michigan. It's a New Haven style pizza and uses a coal oven. It's quite impressive.

If I am searching for the "NYC" slice, it is hard to top Supino. Phenomenal pizza and is sold by the slice as well. If I want fine dining pizza, my favorite lately has been Mad Nice. Which is dope because it comes unsliced and with a pair of scissors. So you can be very greedy with your personal proportions.

Then give JP's Waterfront in Gibraltar a try. (Although they do still have pizza!) Big shout out to the manager Angela! She truly loves her staff. In fact, it's her favorite part of the job.
