| | Week of 04/26/2018 - Featured Blog Post Ten Pounds at a Time I began my journey in the summer of 2017. I was 170 pounds overweight and fighting just to be able to walk, in spite of having had a knee replacement the year before. I decided 2017 would be my year. I was going to finally lose the weight I had gradually been gaining since I was 32. I started out with great resolve and lost 15 pounds. Then, we went on vacation. In November I began seeing an endocrinologist. He was very strict about weight issues. He told me all the terrible things that were about to happen if I didn't get my act together. So I started medication and was told not to eat more than 1800 calories a day. He sent me to a dietitian. By the time I gotten in to see her, I was pretty much scared straight. I'd lost 20 pounds. She looked at my dietary logs and could see that I knew how to eat. So we began working on WHY I eat. There was quite a bit of soul searching going on. When she asked what my weight loss goal was, I told her ten pounds. Now, considering I started at 310, she was a bit perplexed by my answer. I explained, saying I needed to lose 170 pounds was that just too overwhelming. My solution was to focus on ten pounds at a time. So far, it's been working beautifully. I no longer look at the ultimate goal because it's too far away for me to see. I've lost 63 pounds as of this morning. I've gone from a size 30 in jeans to a size 22. I don't have a size in mind when it comes to clothing. I'll see what it looks like when I get there. Until then, I'm just looking forward ten pounds at a time.
