Do You Have an Attitude of Gratitude?
MISS-WILLOW

How much do you complain throughout the day? Do you appreciate the little things enough?

I once heard Oprah discuss how holding a spoon was a spiritual situation. Someone asked how that was possible. Her reply was that someone like Christopher Reeve would be grateful to hold a spoon.

So often I hear people complain the weight isn't coming off fast enough, or they are mad at plateaus. I'd be thrilled to be at a plateau. To go from a size 13 to an 18 in a month from fluid retention takes its toll on the back. Today I had a fourth procedure to remove excess fluid (2 liters this time, 10 liters in a couple of weeks). My pants were two inches too small to button (I wore them anyway.) At the end of the procedure, I was thrilled to button them and I'm grateful I regained enough breath that I could shop for groceries, clean my kitchen and take a short walk to my backyard. I'm resting now so I don't overdo it.

But, can you walk? I'm grateful for the little bit I could do today.
Are you relatively pain free? I'm grateful to have a break from it.
Can you button your pants? Be grateful.
Can you breath easily? Be grateful.
Can you hold a spoon? Be grateful.

If you woke up tomorrow with only the things you were grateful for today, would you still be blessed? Never complain more than you appreciate.
