In a Nutshell
If I had to guess, I'd say I've been to at least 100 concerts throughout my life — starting with my favorite boy band, Dream Street, in the early '90s. I grew up going to music festivals with my dad and concerts like Tori Amos and Sheryl Crow with my mom. As an adult, I've been to many shows with friends, and even by myself, to see superstars and local bands alike.
The pandemic hit pause on my concert going for obvious reasons. I didn't think much about it until I went to one a few months back for the first time in a while, and something came alive in me that I forgot existed. More on that below.

Concert energy is unmatched
what's got us buzzing
Concert energy is unmatched
The last show I went to was an intimate acoustic solo performance with my partner to see one of our favorite songwriters, Andy Shauf. Isolated in a quiet backyard venue in Woodstock, NY with maybe 50 seats in the whole building, everyone sat in awe as he strung his guitar and sang his heart into the microphone for an hour.️
We walked out feeling euphoric, and that natural high lingered for days. Later, I realized that I tend to feel that way after most concerts (until the post-concert depression kicks in) — I just forgot since it had been a while.️
Shows have such a positive effect on my well-being, which I attribute to many things — the socializing element, the act of moving my body through dance, and the many benefits of listening to music.️
All that aside, there's just something really cool about witnessing musicians pouring their hearts out on stage, hundreds of people singing in unison without fear of being off-key, and multicolor lights flashing along with the rhythm of your favorite songs.️
There's nothing quite like a good concert! I can't wait to tap into that energy again at the next one in June.️
