In a Nutshell
Next month, I'll be moving for the 14th time in 4 years. Yes, seriously. This move is for good reason, and I'm very happy about it, but I *hate* the act of moving. I'm already tired just thinking about it. Please send me your tips to make it less stressful!

How to move with as little stress as possible
what's got us buzzing
How to move with as little stress as possible
I'm moving in with my partner and his daughter in March, and I can't wait! We've been doing the long-distance thing for a while now, so it'll be a dream come true to get to spend every day together in our beautiful new home. I'll also be living much closer to family and friends. Good stuff all around.
As excited as I am for this next chapter, I'm absolutely dreading the move itself.
After relocating 13 times since 2020, I've built up a lot of negative emotions around security and stability. I feel like I'm still mentally recovering from my last move in April 2023. I also thrive on routine, and moves (even good ones!) always bring about chaos and change, neither of which I handle well. Not to mention I'll be traveling 2+ hours away with three bedrooms worth of stuff and an anxious cat who cries and tries to claw her way out of the carrier. SOS.
One of the biggest things I've learned over the years is that spending a few hundred bucks on a move is totally worth all the time and stress saved.
Years ago, I started off with only a few belongings, relying on my dad and his truck and trailer to help me transport everything over the course of a day. Nowadays, I rent a U-Haul truck and pay movers to load the truck and clear it off at my final destination within just a couple of hours.
Here are a couple of the other hacks that I already use:
  • Take photos of computer wires and surge protectors, so I know where everything plugs in.
  • Put garbage bags around my clothes so they're easier to carry and hang back up.
  • Wrap fragile items with towels, sheets, and blankets to avoid buying bubble wrap.
  • Pack books in duffle bags instead of boxes that usually rip due to their heavy weight.
  • Organize, downsize, and sell anything I don't need or want *before* moving day.
  • Don't wait until the last minute to pack (which I've done too many times before).
Now, this is where I ask for your help: What's your advice for making this next move less dreadful and exhausting? Or is that just the nature of moving and I'm doomed? Email wellnesswire@healthline.com to help me out or wish me luck. 🏡🚚

Round single-color stress balls are out. Cute animal shapes are in! I don't own this llama fidget toy, but I might need to buy it before my move since it's perfect for on-the-go squishing whenever you're feeling anxious. The box reads ''When SPIT happens, give me a squeeze!'' Clever, funny, and affordable. Sign me up.
