Hey there,
Marielle (@marielle.elizabeth) recently commented on a post about our fall collection, "This is really exciting and I hope to see an in depth breakdown of how the sizing has changed." It's a great point and one that deserves a thorough response, so let's get into it.
Three years ago, we recognized that we needed to improve the fit and consistency of our garments. So in 2020 we began a project that we're proud to say culminates in our Fall 2023 collection. The aim was simple but ambitious: make sure that when you shop with us, your size is your size, every time.
To achieve this, we enlisted professionals who specialize in sizing and fit, specifically for extended sizing, where we knew we needed help. Our objective was to extend our sizes up to 4X, but not in a hasty or half-baked way. We had extended sizes before, but your feedback told us we weren't hitting the mark. We took the criticism constructively, learning what we needed to improve.
One significant change we made was in our development process. We created a new size guide model which led us to purchase custom fit forms. Now, every style is tested in both size small and 1X to start. We iterate, multiple times, until we get it right for each body type.
This hasn't been a quick process; our product team is very small and the undertaking was substantial. We've invested a lot of resources — time, money, and effort. But the end result is worth it. Your feedback has already reflects the improvements, and that makes the whole journey worthwhile.
So, what's changed? In short, you can now expect consistent sizing across all styles. Before, each style might have varied in size due to differences in design or fabric. But we've streamlined that. With the help of custom fit forms, we've introduced two unique "grades" for every product, which means the fit will be consistent whether you're picking up a sweater or a dress. The extended sizes now up to 4X are not just scaled-up versions of smaller sizes; they're tailored to fit different body types accurately. And our size small and 1X serve as the base models, ensuring that our garments fit well across the spectrum.
Our size guides now offer both body and garment measurements to help you find the fit that's right for you – and our team is always here to assist you with any sizing questions you may have. Just send us an email or a DM and we'll be there.
Find your perfect fit
We couldn't have made these changes without your input and support, so thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
Warmly,
Team Tradlands
