Hello SparkFriends
Happy New Year! I hope 2018 is a great year for you and I'll do my best to help you stay motivated to reach goals this year. I'm working now on a fun program called Spark2018.
This will include:
1) A free mini-book that will give you a framework for reaching any kind of goal. There is a focus on health and fitness goals, but the program can be used to reach any type of life goals. I'm close to finishing this.
To learn when the free mini-book launches, just follow my personal Facebook account. Note to click "follow" instead of becoming a friend because Facebook only allows personal accounts to have 5,000 friends and I'm running out of space for family and others. My goal for this project is to his 100,000 total friends/followers in 2018.
2) A fun new feature called SparkChallenges will launch in a couple of weeks on SparkPeople. These will be simple challenges people can do either on their own, with the SP community, or by starting a private SparkChallenge and inviting only their own friends.
3) Do you know how there is so much negativity out there in the world and on social media? I've always loved that we fight hard to keep the SP community positive. I'm setting a goal to have 1 million positive actions posted either on SparkPeople or on my personal Facebook account.
* For SparkPeople, here is a blog I started for this.
* For Facebook, here is a post asking people to post a positive action and then like/share my posts as a way to be a Healthy Leader and spread the spark.
I hope with this test we can all be a "light" and Positive Force for the world.
How does this sound?
I received a great motivator for all of this today. Back in July, a SP member sent me a note on Facebook asking for help because she was suffering from depression. I shared some specific thoughts and asked her to take a look at some of my blogs. After a few back and forth notes, she sent over a great message 2 days ago.
Below are her first and last notes. You can see how this relates to everything I just typed above (some of the writing I shared with her will be in the mini-book):
First message at the end of July:

Hey Chris I appreciate everything you do. I have lost 25 lbs since early June. I have given it all with exercise and counting calories on everything. Yet now, I am struggling to go on. It's due to various reasons. I recently turned 50 and this age has brought challenges. If you have any suggestions it would help. I have gone from extreme motivation and dedication to dealing with a deep depression. Thanks so much. So glad you are my fb friend.

This is really good information that you sent to me. Many thanks I love how you cover all areas like stress management. That is a big one for me right now. I am only 2 lbs away from my long term goal for this year. I have lost 66 lbs. What is amazing is my daily walking has inspired others. I usually take pictures on my walks and post them on Facebook. This is an added bonus and keeps me walking because I enjoy photography. One of my friends says my pictures bring her joy since she is in a wheelchair and can not go outside. My mom has decided to become more creative herself taking up Art again. This has motivated me to keep going because it seems to help others. Thanks for giving me something to think about and study further.

This is what I say all the time. No matter where you are now, you can be a Healthy Leader and Positive Force by spreading the spark to your family, friends, co-workers, and community.
I hope you have a great last day of 2017 and good start to 2018. I'll be here to do my best to spark you in 2018 and you can see that all of you continue to spark me too!
SparkCheers!
